With LEGO the only limit on what you can build is your imagination.
We put this claim to the test again by providing a vivid description of Franz Marc’s painting “the Blue Horse” to blind children and then asking them to build it using LEGO bricks. A work of art that they had never seen in their life.
Blind and severely visually-impaired children were able to access the painting for the first time in their lives. With the help of LEGO they created their own three-dimensional works of art that were brought to the attention of a wider audience via Facebook.
We also invited these blind children to attend workshops alongside sighted people. This exchange between sighted and blind children created a great deal of excitement and there was also a great deal of admiration for the works created. Blind children informed sighted children about their experiences of and thoughts on “The Blue Horse”. In turn, sighted children gained a fresh insight into art and the world of blind people. All with the help of LEGO.
